Garrett Martin helped establish Architecture Office after 5 years as founding principal of its predecessor, Design Office.  His career has demonstrated a  wide range of experience in managing and collaborating with others in a variety of project types and sizes, including community sports centers, schools, residences, restaurants, nightclubs, spa facilities, and award-winning design competition entries.  In 1998 he joined Dave Hurley as design partner at Urban Design-Build Company, collaborating professionally for two years until joining the faculty at Portland State University, first as adjunct professor, then as full-time professor in 2005.  He has taught design studios as well as building technology courses, and has overseen student design-build projects for Habitat for Humanity, among others.

Garrett is a graduate of Claremont Mckenna College, receiving a B.A. in Philosophy Politics and Economics in 1989.  He received his Master of Architecture degree from Harvard University's Graduate School of Design in 1994.
