vegueta house

This 100+ year old home in the Vagueta neighborhood of Las Palmas Gran Canaria needed a extensive renovation.  Our first priority was to work with the owners to outline their needs for the space.  We determined that we should remove one bedroom to enlarge the living space, in the front of the house, creating a unified room that takes advantage of the natural light from the street.

The removal of another bedroom allowed for us to give space to the new master bedroom as well as reconfigure the bathroom, adding a master bath, guest bath, and powder room.

The dining room was separated from the existing very small kitchen by a large cold storage pantry.  We removed the pantry and opened the dining room to the hallway and kitchen, creating a open layout for guests and entertainment.

The rear facade was also removed to bring natural light and air to the social spaces and master bedroom.  In order for this to work however we had to remove a 2 story detached structure that was in the rear of the property and was never completed.  Once the incomplete structure was removed we were able to have the rear of the home open onto an extensive patio space.
